Does anyone know if they plan on updating the SAFE app? I use it all the time for logs and every time I open it, I get a warning that it won’t work any longer if I update my phone software.
If you update to the latest iOS 11, this app will not work. We will be working on updating the App, but it may take awhile. We will post when it’s safe to do the update. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Hi, thanks for sharing that the app will be updated. Would you be able to ask the person developing it if it can be made accessible for people using VoiceOver on iPhone or TalkBack/other text-to-speech software?
I have a long history with self-harm and I would love to use the logs and other features but I cannot do anything with the app and I wish I could get my $2 or whatever it is back (may not seem like a lot but it is when barely making enough for necessities).
Thanks.
Hi Christina, Awhile ago I asked the SAFE app developer to add the features that you mentioned, unfortunately he was trained in the Android platform, and less so in iOS (Apple). The developer was able to get the last iOS app updated, but it took sometime, Apple had made it difficult to make updates in general, which is very very frustrating, however, I just went into my iPhone and played around with the “Accessibility” tab and turned on VoiceOver, and was able to hear all Apple apps out loud. I then went to watch a video on how to add code to third party apps. I am not a developer, but have a better idea as what is needed. I can’t promise the SAFE app will work how you need it to work, but I promise I will do as much as I can to deal with these issues. Karen
My name is Tony and I’m the developer of the SAFE app. I’m currently working on an update to the app which I hope to have ready in the next two weeks. It’s being rebuilt from the ground up using the latest software. The good news is that it should work for a LONG time after that. The bad news is that your logs won’t carry over to the new app because it is completely new.
If you want to hang on to your old logs I would recommend using the “send via e-mail” button at the bottom of the log so you can keep a copy.

This is Tony, the developer – I’ll see what I can do with the new version.

The redesigned SAFE app will be available this month.
How do I find this app for iPhone?
The redesigned app is not yet ready for prime time, we hope it will be available soon.
