I hate it when people say you’ve got it better than other people in poor countries, does that change the thoughts I have EVERY DAY of hurting myself? Yes, I understand people are living in worse conditions than I am around the world, but my problems aren’t about living conditions. It’s like whenever people hear me complain about my life (which I HARDLY even do!) they tell me I shouldn’t complain and am lucky to be where I am! Saying this doesn’t stop the feelings and thoughts and depression and low self-esteem and high anxiety, it’s not the cure to my problems! Don’t make me feel even worse by making me think that my problems are inconsequential and should be overlooked.
Oh my gosh! I heard the same things growing up! It’s so frustrating, annoying, hurtful, and lonely when people don’t see how important your problems are to you, how much hurt you are feeling, and just how much you need someone to just understand where you are coming from, regardless of how minor the problem seems to them. Your problems are important, and the emotions you are feeling is a sure sign of that.
