So, I’ve made it through SI before without telling anyone. And now, a year later, I’ve started again and finally decided to tell someone. I’ve only told him, and am recovering now, but do I tell others? How do I bring something like that up?
It’s a tough decision to know who to tell about something like this, because it’s hard to know how a person will react. Here’s my advice: be very careful who you tell. If you even have a slight feeling that a person will judge you and will just get mad or whatever, don’t tell that person, because that is not going to help you. What you need is someone who will walk alongside you as you are dealing with this. In my own experience, I would also be prepared to have some kind of information on hand about this also, because even if the person is calm about it (which is what you are wanting), you still will want to help him or her to understand where you are coming from as best as you can. I would definitely think very carefully before you tell someone, because you do want someone who is going to help you, not upset you even more than you already are.

Thanks!
