My little sis, who is really just a close friend, wants to make an account on a self harm website just to let off some steam and to get help. Her mom is fairly strict, and and her mom is afraid that if she gets on a blog that she’ll get depressed and do some really stupid things. Should I tell her mom about this website? Does anyone have any suggestions for other websites or blogs?
This site is moderated – which means posts and comments are approved by one of our team at S.A.F.E. We do our best to keep the site “trigger free” – meaning that people can’t post descriptions of self injury or anything that would encourage others to inure. Also, at the main website – http://www.selfinjury.com – there is a lot of helpful information. There is a free Parent Webinar her mother could watch, located in the “Store” section – but again, it’s free.
I’m sure there are many other sites out there, but probably most of them are not moderated. Maybe someone else knows of another though.
Best wishes.
