I’ve tried “raw journaling” . . .it’s different from a diary kind of journal. I got a really obnoxious colored Sharpie marker and a bunch of cheap paper and just write whatever comes out of me . . .the rage, the pain, the sadness . . .whatever comes out. I don’t worry about grammar or foul language or anything else — I just write. Then I shred it so it’s “gone”. The shredding part is important —no one needs to see that garbage we hold inside and it feels better to make it “go away” even if it’s only on paper. It helps the feeling pass. Basically it’s a distraction that keeps me safe.
I am a parent of a 16 year old daughter who SI and I think invisible you have the right idea. When I grew up I used other outlets to feel better about my family, friends, insecurities but the thing I found to work the best is writing it all down. Every last painful thought. Try this Kayx the main thing is to get the feelings out. I hope that this will help you . I have given this idea to my daughter but at this time she is not willing to talk to me about any of her feelings. She is seeing a therapist and I hope she can help her find other ways to express her feelings other than SI. Good luck to you both. May today be a SI free day filled with happiness and peace.
Hope to hear from you soon.

I have a notebook that I write all my feelings in and I know it sounds stupid but it helps and then at first your going to want to injure so badly I know but if you wear a rubber band and everytime you get the erge or feeling snap it on your wrist most people will say its the same but really its training yourself and your brain not to feel the erges. I do it all the time
