SI just means that you self injure. i know that somewhere out there, there are 40, 50, 60+ year old men and women who self injured before they knew what “self injury” was and before the term “emo” came on the scene.
i think the word “emo” is just another term people use as a way of classifying someone in a group of similar people so they can think a certain way about them…in a way it’s just another name. a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. you are you. not a label someone puts on you or a label you put on yourself.
let me put it this way, i self injured before i even knew what the term “emo” meant….i sort of still don’t…all i know is it stands for the word “emotional” and if that’s true, then i guess eveyone’s “emo” at some point.
Self injury is not something that ’emo’ people do, and it’s not a ‘get over it’ type of issue. Self injury, self harm, parasuicidal behaviour, whatever you want to call it, is a serious issue and many people fail to realize it. It is another form of addiction, like some people are addicted to alcohol or recreational drugs. Self injury can be helped, and recovery is possible.

So my answer is that NO, you are not ’emo’.

Recovery is possible, help is real, hope is real. Each of us deserves to be understood, and each of us deserves to be loved.
Self injury is not a label, nor should it ever be one. I don’t know what kind of question this is.
