I have a good piece of advise being that I graduate from the program and that is don’t be afraid to open up either with your therapist or in group you will not be judged. I know that’s easier said than done, but I was scare at first and after the first few days I really started to feel safe safe enough to just be open and let it all come out. Also if given advise by anyone take it because that will be something else to take back home after you get out. Good Luck and don’t be afraid that you might be talking too much because believe me it’s never too much and the more you talk the better things will get.
Make the best of your experience… Totally open up and don’t lie when they ask you questions. Be completely and utterly honest – even when it hurts because they will help you work through the pain safely. You can’t shock them with what you say and they won’t be able to help you if you don’t fully cooperate with them.
Be open and vunerable. Let them help you! This is an opportunity of a lifetime to get the help you need. Take what they say seriously, fully participate in every activity (even if you don’t want to), and trust them.
you should keep a journal, too, so you can write down all the advice and things you learn, and all the encouraging words you get.
so that way, if you get urges to SI after you leave, you can look back on it. good luck!!
