I don’t mean to step on any toes here…..but i seriously am wondering if there is anyone out there that wants to help. What about people who can’t afford to go to these treatment places? What about people who feel really crappy about themselves and who can’t make the right decision….. why do the counselors give up? the treatment teams? They need to keep in mind that the person wants help but the depression and whatever else is working against it….with the constant slip ups with SI, the “I dont cares” (when we really do)….. they cant just give up….then we feel more of like a failure and more depressed and suicidal and stuff…maybe attack the depression first then the other issues…just my opinion
I don’t know, maybe i’m on my own on this one……. anyone else feel the same or different?

of course there is help out there but you have to want to get better in order for anything to really make a difference.. its all about how you look at it.. therapy can suck but cancelling your appt’s isnt going to help you- do you know for a fact that your therapist doesnt care? Im sure that isnt true-and if your cancelling sessions then your therapist isnt the one who is giving up-maybe this all sounds really blunt, but its what I take from what you are saying.. without knowing any background. I have to say FINDING the right help (aka going to SAFE) was difficult or whatever the ‘right’ kind of help bei it a group or different therapist.. can be hard to find. but its there, you just have to really want to find what works for you.

True you have to want to want help and you have to be willing as well. I was unable to afford to go into the safe program and there was no one in my area that even understood injuring. I contacted S.A.F.E. and was able to speak with someone there and then I received the book “Bodily Harm” which also has the program used in the treatment center in it. I was able to work with a trusted person through the program at my own pace. And yes, I had to work through my abuse and my depression first, before I was really able to work on the program for injuring. BUT I was able to work through it, self-paced and I am happy to say that I am over 5 years injury free now! But it was a hard thing to do, it took a lot and it took me about a year give or take a month or two, which is longer than going into the treatment center, but it did work for me.
BUT you have to be in a place where you want to be helped, where you want to have other options, where you don’t want to injure any longer and getting there is hard.
As far as your therapist giving up on you, I don’t know if that is true or just a feel like, but if you don’t think that the fit is right and you do not feel comfortable with them then maybe it is time to find a therapist that you do feel comfortable and trust. That might take a few times to find the right one.
I hope this helped.
