Hey hon,
Sometimes certain mental illnesses can cause us to alternate between feeling really sad to really happy. It is actually a sign that there is a problem when you feel extremely happy for no apparent reason. I would strongly encourage you to reach out for help, even though you feel good now you could crash. Please be careful, ok?
It is so easy to become confident when you have reached your goal or are approaching your goal, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need support along the way… as unfortunately, it doesn’t always get easier the longer you go without self-injury.
Have you considered extending the time between therapy sessions? If you are doing better, then try going at this a little slower (every 2 or 3 weeks or maybe once a month). Going completely without therapy might be too big of a jump. What happens if you slip up? Do you have a support system in place?
Please don’t dive into the pool when you don’t know the depth just yet. Recovery from self-injury is a process. It is great to hear you are doing awesome right now, but that doesn’t mean something might not come up when you least expect it and puts a road block up for you in terms of recovery. Part of recovery is preparing for the bumps… trust me… I’ve been in recovery for a little over a year and sometimes I right back to playing the “15 Minute Game” for hours and hours and hours.
