My name is Debbie and I graduated from the S.A.F.E. program in November 2007. I am facilitating a peer support group for people who self injure which utilizes the S.A.F.E. Alternatives Program guidelines. The group will meet for two hours once a week at The Behavior Therapy Center in Princeton, NJ.
The purpose of the S.A.F.E. Focus group is to provide a structured, caring environment for those who self injure and desire to change that behavior. Using exercises and assignments developed by the S.A.F.E. Alternatives Program, group members will work together to increase their awareness of destructive behaviors, the consequences of destructive behaviors, and increase their awareness of feelings. S.A.F.E. Focus group will provide coping skills and tools to help members achieve abstinence from destructive behaviors, safety, and a healthier life.
If you would like to participate in or have any questions about the group, please feel free to contact me at email@example.com and visit http://self-injury.meetup.com/279/ . Attending the S.A.F.E. program was an invaluable experience for me. I am excited for the opportunity to share these skills with the group.
