So I have been out of SAFE for one month now and things are going great. No self-injury and still sober, for almost three months now. I am living at a sober living in the Santa Monica area. I want to find a support group for self-harm, but I have no idea where to look. I want to keep up with all the work I did while in the program. I hope every one is doing well and staying SAFE.

Megan!!! I just got your email this morning. So so glad to hear you are doing well. I know what you mean about the support group. I am actually talking to the SAFE people about starting a peer support group in my area – they are developing a manual for people to do so.
It’s hard keeping up the work once you are out of SAFE. Sometimes I feel so very alone and isolated. I just have to make myself go back to that feeling I had of being completely understood and recall the things I learned at SAFE. It has not been easy AT ALL since I left but I’m hanging in there.
Once again, I’m so happy to hear you are doing well. Keep up the good work!
Ashley
Hey Megan! Glad to see you are doing great! Keep posting!
Ashley, got your post earlier today about getting something from a flea market? You can send it to S.A.F.E. so I can keep it in the office for everyone to enjoy!
hey Megan,
congrats! remember me? I know i was leaving when you were just coming into SAFE. Its great to hear that you are doing so well 🙂 I’m doing really well too. Been injury free for 105 days.
I’m working on starting a support group in my area as well. But in the mean time (if its any help) i developed kind of a “travel SAFE kit” combining my own ideas with Sharon and Ashley’s suggestions. I carry a copy of the impulse and negative thinking logs with me (I shrunk them down to index card size). Some affirmation cards. And a personal bill of rights, list of alternatives and distorted thinking check list. Carry it all in a fancy case i decorated hehe.
I helps me to recall my skills when i need them. It is hard to keep up with the work I did at SAFE sometimes. I just keep trying to find ways to keep it alive in my daily life. Work on it one day at a time.
Best Wishes,
-debbie
Megan,
Glad to hear that all is well. It is Sharon. I left about a week or so after you arrived. I am very happy to hear that you are doing well. Keep it up! How is LA? It is cold here in OH. No snow, though. That is good. Take care of yourself and keep in touch!
Sharon
It needs to snow here since it’s been so friggin cold!
Oh my! It was nearly zero here last night. Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.
I am one of those people who is of the philosophy that if it is cold, it should be for a reason. You know, like snow or something!!! Then there is a greater likelihood that I won’t have to go to work!! 🙂
